In Home and Antelope Island Stake Park Lifestyle Family | Armistead Family
This is one of my absolute sweetest and most tender family session. It holds even extra meaning for me because I was the Armistead’s Nanny for about a year and just love them all so much. They are all so special to me and I just love being able to document their family during a session and after they welcomed their littlest into the family.
I really wanted to capture all of the moments of home life and those home personalities and activities as well as going to Antelope Island Stake Park for a more scenic location as well. Antelope Island in October was perfect, the weather was great for us and there was little to no bugs out which made the experience great for all of us including the kids.
Family sessions have taken a big change for me over the years and the photos below show exactly why/what I mean. I used to do family sessions where we would go to 1 location and every picture was everyone looking at me and smiling… in like 20 different spots. I did not enjoy this sessions and I hated feeling like we needed to get the absolute perfect picture with hair and clothes perfect and smiling perfectly. I took a step back from families for a few years and then started back up but following the approach that I created with weddings and couples, guided documentary or otherwise known as lifestyle shoot. I want to guide you into activities and capture the sweet bonds and relationships that your family has. I don’t leave you to feel awkward or with nothing to do. I also always do a few full smiling photos but I keep it to 1 or 2 and the rest are candid or guided and not focusing on smiling while you look at the camera.
Because of this approach I was able to capture some of the most precious moment for them like one of the girls putting on her dads shoes like she always likes to do, building a fort, playing tag, making a favorite treat: popcorn, mom getting the girls ready as well as sharing tender hugs with mom after falling. This to me is what families are about and I want you to have photos that celebrate that.
so in love with getting to create and with couples being willing to trust my ideas.
